reality check on top heavy portal
Mon, February 19, 2007 - 11:49 PMno issue? ok. will handle.
I also wanted to post about a new project i've been suffering over: it's the creation of a portal which feels way too top heavy to me.
My main problem is that I just don't believe in this project. I think it's got a lot of dot com-esque
theory propelling it forward and it lacks depth. I am working with a remote team of art director and webmaster. The reason we can't woork effectively together is that the lead is too controlling. He wants to build a database-driven corporate community-type site, for a sponsor. It's just hugely complex and I think it should begin smaller and more compact, and grow a little more organically. I picture a huge portal with abilty to search any which way, but no good content to search through, and what's the point of that? It feels very hoolow.
He seems to understand he has a communication problem, but his response is to obsess over organizing his thoughts and I'd like to get him to just scale back on his high-concept attitude, but am not sure how to put that politely? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Iris
